New construction Parlerstraße Triple Gymnasium

Project description

Construction of a triple-purpose gymnasium with bleachers (199 spectators) and renovation of the outdoor sports facility, consisting of natural and artificial turf playing fields, a sand pit, and running tracks

On behalf of the City of Nuremberg, WBG KOMMUNAL is planning the construction of a new triple-purpose gymnasium on Parlerstraße in the Wetzendorf district for school and club sports.

The sports hall is important not only for school sports at the nearby Forchheimerstrasse Elementary School but also for the overall development of the neighborhood; therefore, a triple-purpose sports hall is being built, even though school needs alone would require only a double-purpose sports hall.

The construction site is located on the grounds of the sports club TSV Johannis 1883 Nürnberg e.V. The existing playing fields on the sports grounds will be partially modernized and partially rebuilt.

Plans include an artificial turf field primarily for school use and a natural grass field for club use. In addition, four running tracks with a long jump facility are to be constructed.

These measures will not only create ideal conditions for promoting school sports, particularly with regard to all-day care, but also for club sports in the neighborhood.

Location

11 Parlerstraße, Wetzendorf district, Nuremberg

The construction site is located on parcel 581, which is held under a leasehold granted to TSV Johannis 1883 Nürnberg e.V. The City of Nuremberg intends to remove the land designated for the sports hall from the leasehold agreement. The new Forchheimer Straße elementary school is located in the immediate vicinity. The new triple-purpose gymnasium is within walking distance for the students.

For the site bordering to the north, development plan No. 4641a “Wetzendorf – Parlerstraße” is currently being drafted. The plan calls for predominantly residential development with 4- to 6-story buildings. The requirements for noise protection will be appropriately taken into account in the planning of the triple-purpose gymnasium. The construction site is located in an area suspected of containing an archaeological site; archaeological investigations are required prior to construction.

Energy standard

The new three-court gymnasium meets the requirements of the Building Energy Act (GEG) 2024. The energy assessment evaluates the heat-exchanging building envelope and the planned building services systems.

The primary energy demand of the construction project is 52.03 kWh/m²a; according to the preliminary assessment, the annual final energy demand is approximately 80,594.34 kWh/a.

The construction project will incorporate sustainable building systems, such as a heat pump. A PV system with a capacity of approximately 236 kWp will be installed on the roof.

This means that 54.9% of the requirements for a climate-positive building are met. The rating of this building is thus significantly higher than that of a new building constructed using conventional methods in accordance with GEG 2020.

Special features

Accessibility and Inclusion

The new building, designed to be accessible in accordance with DIN 18040 and coordinated with the Nuremberg Council for People with Disabilities, features ground-level entrances.

The entire building is accessible via an elevator. A tactile guidance system at the main entrance leads from the public area to the gym entrance. A wheelchair-accessible restroom is provided on both the ground floor and the upper floor.
