The existing building with 32 flats will be restored almost to its shell condition and energetically modernised (minimisation of energy consumption).
Instead of the existing attic, a new, additional residential floor is being created with two four-room, two three-room and two two-room flats. The apartment building will thus have 38 privately financed flats on five floors in future.
To make it easier to access the flats, new lifts will be built in front.
The apartment building is located in the area of the ensemble-protected (preservation of historic buildings) Parkwohnanlage West (PWA) housing complex in the Sündersbühl district. It is part of the overall district concept, consisting of conversion with addition of storeys, modernisation with addition of storeys, basic modernisation and new construction.
The building meets the EnEV standard. This standard sets out clear regulations for the energy efficiency of modernisations or new buildings.
All parts of the building were constructed in the original colour and building form of the 1960s on account of the ensemble protection.
