The governing bodies of the wbg 2000 Foundation have approved a grant of €10,000 for the Freiraum (“free space”) project of the parish of St. Mark.
The grant is intended for the purchase of a group wardrobe and other equipment for the Freiraum. This is the name of the new space that has been created by the renovation of the Church of St. Mark and will be used in many ways in the future.
With this space, the congregation is also opening up to people who do not belong to the church. It is cooperating with the City of Nuremberg, and a variety of uses are being created for the common good. Thanks to the cooperation with the City of Nuremberg, Helmut-Herold-Platz in front of the church will also be redesigned and used as a café in early summer.
“With this grant, we are supporting a new facility for the people of Südstadt, including our own tenants. Above all, we now have a space for groups who, for various reasons, are on the fringes of society. This opportunity for participation is very important to us,” explains wbg press spokesman Dieter Barth on the occasion of presenting the grant during the inauguration of St. Mark’s Church and the Freiraum.
