The bodies of the wbg 2000 Foundation have approved a sum of €36,600 for a total of eight very different institutions and organisations. The donation cheques were handed over by wbg press spokesman Dieter Barth as a member of the advisory board of the wbg 2000 Foundation.
The project “Mentor Nuremberg – Reading Helpers at Schools” will receive €17,000 as a financial contribution for the purchase of 20 laptops. These will be used to offer digital reading lessons, which are particularly important in times of the pandemic, but which can also be put to excellent use afterwards. Rector (ret.) Peter Gruber, honorary project coordinator, and Wolfgang Neumüller, head of the “ZAB – Zentrum Aktiver Bürger” (ZAB – Centre for Active Citizens), are pleased about the grant.
The CURATORIUM ALTERN GESTALTEN (Curatorium Shaping Age) will receive funding of €8,000 for the project “Dialogue: Culture & Dementia”. This will finance a digital platform that will make it possible for people with dementia and the elderly in particular, as well as their relatives, to use an interactive cultural calendar and its contents. The Curatorium’s Project Manager for Gerontology, Georg Weigl, is happy about the grant.
Lebenshilfe Nürnberg e. V. will receive €3,000 for its day-care centre on Ostendstraße. The money will be used to transform the existing open spaces into edible play and adventure landscapes. Present at the handover were: Hermann Lechner, Deputy Chairman and Marco Höyns, Head of Public Relations of Lebenshilfe Nuremberg.
The Werkbund Werkstatt Nürnberg gGmbH will receive a grant of €2,500 for the new edition of its activity brochure, which describes the activities of this private educational institution. Managing Director Norbert Zlöbl accepts the grant.
For the Gostenhofer Ateliertage – GOHO (Gostenhof Studio Days – GOHO), the supporting association GOHO e. V. will receive a grant of €2,000. This will support the diverse handicrafts scene in Gostenhof, which is very important especially in times of pandemic. The chairman of GOHO e. V., Wilhelm Wiesner, took part.
Kindergarten St. Maximilian Kolbe will receive €1,600 for a project to be carried out during the facility’s renovation. The project will introduce the children in a playful way to the tasks of the people working on the construction site.
The cultural project “Extremely loud and incredibly close” by the transforming arts e. V. association will receive a grant of €1,500. This will fund a pandemic project supporting the arts and culture scene, especially in the area around the Plärrer.
The Egidienberg e. V. association has applied for funding for its theatre project “Der Puzzlemacher” for the Haus des Spiels. It will receive a grant of €1,000. The director of the play, Nicole Schymiczek, is pleased about the support.
“With today’s payout, we have once again supported an entire series of sensible, good projects for the benefit of Nuremberg’s urban society. Some have already been realised, others are yet to come, but all deserve financial support. Some only exist because Covid-19 made the actions necessary. This is how we at the wbg 2000 Foundation respond time and time again to current events”, explains Dieter Barth on the occasion of presenting the grants.
