The governing bodies of the wbg 2000 foundation have approved a total of €53,780 for 17 institutions and organizations. The donation checks were presented by Elisabeth Ries, chair of the advisory board, and Ralf Schekira, chair of the foundation's board of directors.

The association of Gretel Bergmann Schule received €10,000 for the art project “Applause for Gretel Bergmann.” The artwork, which was unveiled on July 3 in Langwasser, honors the world-class athlete and namesake of the school. Ralf Rebhahn, Matthias Hesse, and Annika Lux from the association's board accepted the donation check.

Klaus Issler and Kristina Hörath from the management team of the “BewegDich!” initiative were delighted to receive €5,000. The initiative, launched by Nürnberg Falcons e. V., aims to motivate children in schools and kindergartens to exercise more.

Another €5,000 went to Evangelischen Verein für Gemeindediakonie Lichtenhoff (Protestant Association for Social Welfare in Lichtenhof). The “Vesperkirche” project offers a church as an open space for socializing and social support during the cold season. Pastor Matthias Halbig gratefully accepted the donation.

The “International Youth Camp” organized by the Kreisjugendring Nürnberg-Stadt (KJR) is receiving financial support in the amount of €5,000. The week-long event brought together young people from Nuremberg and its twin cities. The donation check was accepted by KJR Managing Director Sebastian Huber and Deputy Chairwoman Nina Görgen.

The foundation is supporting the project “Welt-T-Räume – Sustainability in Nuremberg Daycare Centers” with €4,000, which enables children, parents, and professionals to engage with global sustainability issues. The Fränkisches Bildungswerk für Friedensarbeit e. V. (Franconian Educational Institute for Peace Work) was represented by Sibylle Weiler at the check presentation.

With the help of the €3,000 donation, the Katholische Kindergarten St. Christophorus (Catholic kindergarten St. Christophorus) will be able to build a “tricycle track” in its outdoor area. Kindergarten director Tamara Götz and her deputy Andrea Koch were present at the check presentation.

The “Future Forum 2025: Enough for Everyone!” brought people together to find ways to live sustainably with fewer resources and a better quality of life, complemented by cultural contributions such as music and art. The foundation supported this with €3,000, and Prof. Dr. Beatrice Dernbach from the Technical University of Nuremberg accepted the check.

The Urban Lab's “Zwergenwerkstatt” (Dwarf Workshop) is being funded with €2,500. The project aims to give children and parents the opportunity to design unique furniture for children's stores and kindergartens together. Project manager Charlotte Haas was delighted with the support.

The Krabbelstube Krachmacherstraße e. V. (daycare center) is one of the institutions that would like to participate in the “Zwergenwerkstatt.” Thanks to the €2,500, this is now possible, much to the delight of association member and mother Lena Endres, who accepted the check.

Jörg René Hundsdorfer from Theater Zwangsvorstellung e. V. received a check for €2,500. The amount contributed to the successful staging of “TRIGGER – Nuremberg Festival for Politics and Human Rights in Theater and Performance.”

€2,000 went to the “VR-supported therapy in youth rehabilitation” program of Stadtmission Nürnberg e. V. The director of the youth rehabilitation facility, Anita Krivec, will use the money to purchase VR glasses for anxiety therapy.

The acting school “Young Talents featuring An Open Space” will be able to carry out its project “Experiment Tinder – on stage” with the help of 2,000 euros. This research project compares and examines theater and digitalization. Director Andrea Hintermaier gratefully accepted the donation.

With a donation of €2,000, the dance and theater project “Bubbles! Democracy canceled?” was able to be performed. The chairwoman of StadtEnsemble Nürnberg e. V., Daniela Rutenkolk, was delighted with the support.

Altstadtfreunde Nürnberg e. V. received a donation of €1,500 to support the “Sculpture workshop for women from the Nuremberg women's shelter.” Board member Eva Schröder accepted the donation check.

Andrea Konopka and Anna-Lisa Surdo from the Institut für Soziale und Kulturelle Arbeit gGmbH (institute for social and cultural work) are delighted with their donation of €2,000. Thanks to this financial support, volunteer family mentors and their mentees can visit the zoo or swimming pools in Nuremberg.

Artischocken Nürnberg e. V. is receiving a grant of €1,000 for its project “Theaterlabor‚ Ich und die/der/das Andere” (Theater Lab, Me and the Other). The theater workshops aim to combat misanthropy, promote diversity, and break down barriers.

Pinar Celik accepted the €780 grant on behalf of Stadtmission Nürnberg e. V. The money will be used to purchase language translation devices to facilitate the work of education, relationship, and life coaches.

Our foundation supports projects that enable participation and strengthen social cohesion in Nuremberg,” emphasized Elisabeth Ries at the handover. “The broad spectrum of this year's grants – from educational projects to cultural and theater initiatives to social engagement – shows how diverse the ways are in which people in our city support others.

Ralf Schekira also emphasized the importance of the foundation's work: “We are proud that the wbg 2000 Foundation has been able to provide important impetus for social life in Nuremberg for 25 years. The projects we support show that civic engagement and social responsibility are central components of our corporate philosophy.”
