On 23 May 2024, the Basic Law will be 75 years old. This and concerns about the continued existence of our democracy brings five politicians from different parties together. And literally: under the title ‘Zamrüggn for democracy’, they have launched the initiative initiative, which is also supported by wbg Nürnberg. ‘Zammrüggn’ aims to strengthen democracy in the region and promote respectful co-operation. Led by Renate Schmidt (SPD), long-serving Nuremberg politicians from the politicians from the FDP, CSU and the Greens are positioning themselves against racism, anti-Semitism and populism.
In addition, ‘Zammrüggn’ stands for more climate protection, social justice, security, better education, the promotion of art and culture, a more customised migration policy and a clear commitment to the EU. Nuremberg's Lord Mayor Marcus König (CSU) and almost 100 organisations support the Democracy Pact. The wbg Nürnberg GmbH property company is also one of them. The managing directors Ralf Schekira and Frank Thyroff have signed the Democracy Pact and the staff are following their example. Digital participation is possible at www.zammrueggn.de.
