Last Friday, the new kitchen in the Siegfriedstraße daycare center was officially opened. The facility had wanted this extension for two years - now the project could be realized thanks to the financial support of several sponsors, including the wbg 2000 Foundation with 3000 euros.
The “Orte für Familien Siegfriedstraße” daycare center has space for 120 children, 20 of whom are in the after-school care program. With the new kitchen, they now have the opportunity to learn age-appropriate and practical life skills. “It is very important to us to teach the children the basics of nutrition and health from an early age,” says Katja Masin, spokesperson for the daycare center. In the kitchen area, the children will learn how to handle food, hygiene rules and how to prepare simple dishes. At the same time, the kitchen can also be used for parent events.
“It is important to us to promote the children's independence and raise their awareness of healthy eating. The new kitchen is an ideal learning space for this,” said wbg press spokesman Dieter Barth at the symbolic handover of the cheque.
