The civil engineering work for the new retirement home in St. Johannis continues. Around 140 driven piles will be driven into the ground from Monday to Thursday.

On August 14th the WBG Nürnberg Beteiligungs GmbH is continuing the civil engineering work for the new senior citizens' facility in St. Johannis. As part of the second construction phase, prefabricated driven piles are once again being driven into the ground. Depending on the diameter of the piles, there may be slight vibrations, for which we ask for your understanding and patience.

The piling equipment used is state-of-the-art. There are currently no devices with lower immission values available on the market. To reduce the noise level, a noise protection bonnet is also fitted to the piling rig head. Another advantage of ‘pile driving’ compared to ‘drilling’ is the significantly shorter construction time.

Below the limit values

The vibrations are recorded and monitored from the start of pile driving in the buildings on Großweidenmühlstraße in the immediate vicinity. The vibration frequencies set for the alarm are well below the limit values and did not report any abnormalities during the first pile-driving operation. The construction project is therefore within the legally permissible framework and all existing authorisations have been complied with.

In order not to extend the construction period unnecessarily, the work will run from Monday to Wednesday from 7.30 a.m. to 5.30 p.m., in some cases until 6 p.m.. On the other hand, they end on Thursdays at 3 pm.

Of the planned 360 driven piles, 220 have already been installed in April and May. The installation of the remaining 140 or so piles is expected to take three weeks.
