At the signing of the contract in the town hall, Lord Mayor Marcus König confirmed: “Ralf Schekira has clearly qualified for the position of sole managing director thanks to his expertise and reliable actions as technical managing director since 2012. With him, we are relying on a leader who will keep the company stable and innovative even in challenging times.”
Three core business areas remain the focus
wbg Nürnberg, one of Bavaria’s largest municipal housing companies, will maintain its operational focus under Schekira’s sole leadership. The three key business areas remain: housing management, property development, and municipal real estate management. “Our strategy remains clear: we create housing, modernize our existing properties, and support the City of Nuremberg with infrastructure projects,” Schekira stated. He also emphasized the necessity of adjustments in response to rising construction costs and interest rates, while affirming a commitment to long-term planning and sustainability.
wbg plans to invest approximately €92 million in 2025. Around €45 million will be allocated to the construction of 200 to 250 new apartments annually, while another €47 million will go toward the modernization of existing properties. “Our mission is to create long-term value with the resources we generate—for the city, its residents, and future generations,” Schekira added.
Stability and further development as key objectives
The transition to sole management by Ralf Schekira represents a new phase in the history of wbg Nürnberg without altering the company’s proven direction. “This decision ensures the stability and continuous development of wbg,” Mayor König emphasized. “Creating new housing and enhancing the existing portfolio are central tasks for the future.”
