Until the end of February, various tree felling, pruning and ground works will be carried out on behalf of the wbg Group. This will ensure compliance with the prescribed protection period for breeding birds and wildlife starting at the beginning of March. All work was coordinated with and approved by the responsible offices of the City of Nuremberg.
Soil disposal and clearing work on Forchheimer Straße On behalf of the City of Nuremberg, WBG KOMMUNAL is preparing for the construction of the new primary school building on Forchheimer Straße.
Topsoil relocation work was already carried out on the site as early as September 2021. The reason for this was the completion of extensive archaeological work on the property. Since November 2021, the topsoil stored in piles by the archaeologists has been gradually removed in order to satisfy flood protection requirements.
Additional clearing work will now also be performed there until 28 February 2022. Trees with severe damage and no long-term prospects for preservation will be felled or cut down to the trunk. Other trees will receive crown pruning and root protection in some areas to ensure long-term preservation. This specifically involves
- 5 per cent crown reduction for three spruces,
- 10 per cent for one hornbeam,
- 15 per cent for another 12 hornbeams and
- 15 per cent for three sycamores.
A total of seven trees will be felled, three of which will be cut down to the trunk so that they can sprout again. The remaining trees are two dead trees, a walnut tree and a willow. These will be replaced with native species in accordance with the official authorisation.
Shrubs and trees along the property boundaries will be pruned back properly to ensure traffic safety on the property and on neighbouring properties. In addition, several rootstock clearings will take place. Another crown pruning will be carried out to compensate for a root encroachment of five per cent.
Pruning on the grounds of the Uhlandschule For the construction of a new primary school with 4 forms, WBG KOMMUNAL GmbH will carry out pruning in the non-protected tree population in the southern schoolyard of the existing school and relief and maintenance pruning in the crown area of a few trees in the row of plane trees on Grolandstraße.
Felling in the area of Euckenweg 11-21 Four trees have to be felled in the inner courtyard of Euckenweg 11-21 in the scope of the renovation of the underground car park to be carried out on Bertolt-Brecht-Straße. wbg Nürnberg will carry out plant replacement trees elsewhere, as replanting is no longer permitted on the roof of the underground car parks.
