The “Nuremberg Culture Backpack 2025/26” project was launched with a festive kick-off event at the Mummpitz Theater. The project gives children from socially disadvantaged families access to art and culture, thereby making an important contribution to cultural education in Nuremberg.
The wbg 2000 Foundation is supporting the initiative again this year with a donation of €10,000. The donation was presented by Frank Jedzik, member of the foundation's board of directors, and Christiane Bälz, deputy chair of the foundation's advisory board. “Cultural education is an important foundation for social participation and personal development,” emphasizes Frank Jedzik. “With our support, we want to help ensure that all children—regardless of their families' financial means—can experience art and culture and thereby discover new perspectives.”
Thanks to this funding, around 1,700 children from approximately 80 third-grade classes will be able to attend theater performances, museum tours, concerts, and creative workshops. Participants include the Nuremberg State Theater, the Germanic National Museum, the New Museum, the Kunstvilla, the Tafelhalle, and, of course, the Mummpitz Theater.
Representatives of the City of Nuremberg, participating cultural institutions, sponsors, and students from the Knauer School gathered at the Mummpitz Theater for the kick-off event to celebrate the start of the new Kulturrucksack season.
