The wbg 2000 Foundation is providing a total of 26,500 euros in support to ten organizations, associations, and initiatives. The funded projects range from social work and inclusive culture to children’s and youth work, as well as democracy education, community organizing, and educational programs. The donation checks were presented by Elisabeth Ries, Chair of the Advisory Board of the wbg 2000 Foundation, and Ralf Schekira, Chair of the Executive Board of the wbg 2000 Foundation.
“The funded projects demonstrate just how diverse community engagement is in Nuremberg. Whether it’s children and youth, people with disabilities, social institutions, or cultural initiatives, people everywhere are doing important work to foster a sense of community in our city. We are very happy to support this commitment,” emphasized Elisabeth Ries and Ralf Schekira at the presentation ceremony.
An overview of the funded projects:
Lilith e. V. will receive5,000 euros for the project “Digital Renewal at Lilith e. V. – IT Infrastructure.” The grant will be used to purchase new PCs and laptops that meet current technical requirements. Silvia Kaubisch, deputy managing director of Lilith e. V., accepted the check.
Another 5,000 euros will go to Lebenshilfe Nürnberg e. V. for its joint project with the Brachland Ensemble, “The Beginning – Inclusive Theater and Media Project.” Andreas Schönberger, Head of Open Support Services at Lebenshilfe Nürnberg e. V., and Gunnar Seidel, Artistic Director of the Brachland Ensemble, were present at the ceremony.
The daycare center at Peterskirche is receiving 3,000 euros to support the construction of a new climbing frame. The old play structure was damaged and had to be replaced. Christine Kehr, Head of Daycare Services; Martina Wirth, Head of the Kindergarten; and Carina Weber, Head of the Nursery, were delighted with the donation.
“Seniorpartner in School” received3,000 euros for the basic training of school mediators. They support children and adolescents in resolving conflicts at schools independently and peacefully. Elfriede von Lüdinghausen, Team Leader for the Nuremberg location, accepted the donation check.
The Catholic Youth Group St. Marien Katzwang is receiving 2,000 euros to help purchase supplies for its summer camp. The parish has been organizing a summer camp for children and teenagers for 20 years. The grant will be used, among other things, to purchase refrigeration equipment and weatherproof gear. Lilly Beß and Ronja Krisch, former parish youth leaders, attended the presentation.
VfL Nuremberg is receiving 2,000 euros to upgrade and expand the club’s IT infrastructure. Plans include new laptops and new club software as part of the transition to Windows 11. Chairman Ingo Ranzenbacher and Vice Chairman Jürgen Bodach accepted the check.
The wbg 2000 Foundation is providing 2,000 euros to support the Fränkisches Bildungswerk für Friedensarbeit e. V. in developing a set of cards for democracy education and values education in daycare centers.
Another 2,000 euros is going to Kiste e. V. for the construction of seating and craft areas in the kindergarten’s garden, as well as for the purchase of tables.
The Tanzerei-Verein e. V. is receiving 1,500 euros for the “gemEinsam” project. The youth dance ensemble explores loneliness across different age groups through art and aims to raise awareness of the issue.
Young Talents featuring an Open Space will receive1,000 euros for the project “Ist das Fußball oder kann das weg?” (Is That Soccer or Can It Go?). The play provides a platform for FLINTA fans and female soccer players. Actress Christin Wehner accepted the check.
