At the end of 2023, the Works Council of wbg Nürnberg GmbH Immobilien-unternehmen continued its tradition of collecting donations for a good cause at the joint end-of-year party for former and current employees. For the first time, everyone was able to choose the recipient organisation at a works meeting. The organisation Hilfe für Krebskranke e. V. Nürnberg was chosen by a large majority.

The collection totalled almost €4,000, which was rounded up and doubled by the company. The Chairman of the Works Council of the wbg Group, Robert Schumbrutzki, was thus able to hand over €7,900.

"I am delighted that our employees not only selected the organisation, but also supported it very generously, so that such a considerable amount can be handed over. In this way, we are helping to ensure that people suffering from cancer receive help and that their quality of life can be improved as a result. We are happy to support this difficult work," said Robert Schumbrutzki when handing over the cheque.

The association Hilfe für Krebskranke e. V. Nürnberg has been supporting the Medical Clinic 5 at the Nuremberg North Hospital, an internationally recognised centre for the treatment of patients with cancer and leukaemia, since 1978. Since then, the association has been able to support extraordinary projects, services and research projects with donations totalling 8.5 million euros. Special attention is paid to the human aspect in the care of patients: The project "Families living with cancer" with a supplementary counselling and support service for affected families is the focus of the donation. In particular, this involves providing support of all kinds when a parent is diagnosed with cancer and the children therefore need special care.
