This year, wbg Nürnberg is once again taking part in the city-wide school supplies campaign organized by the Network Against Poverty. With a donation of EUR 3,000 as well as individually made upcycling bags and pencil cases from old construction plans, wbg is helping to give children from low-income families a successful start to school.

Social counselor Alexandra Glatz from the Bavarian Red Cross gratefully accepted the donations; she coordinates the acceptance and distribution of the materials as well as the procurement of new school bags and school utensils for families in need.

The school supplies campaign is taking place for the 19th time in 2025 and is part of the Nuremberg “Network against Poverty”, a cooperation between public and independent welfare organizations and private initiatives. The aim is to support first-graders in Nuremberg with school supplies - especially those whose families are dependent on social benefits. Currently, around one in five children in Nuremberg lives in such a household.

Further information on the campaign, how to donate and contact details can be found at www.nuernberg.de or directly from the BRK Nuremberg City District Association.
